An interesting start today. This is the old Dundalk jail; apparently its first prisoner was the man who built it. He got involved in a dispute with the authorities who ordered the contract and ended up locked up inside his own building.
Brian and Hugh are overcome with joy when we finally reached the coast at Blackrock.
Breakfast at Belles Cafe in Blackrock. First class - sea views, good food, china cups and friendly staff (albeit not too keen to be photographed).
A few other quirky things in this unusual seaside village:
Shopfront, with a model of our running friend Liz Leitch stuck up a tree.
A brilliantly named Chinese restaurant - remember this is in Blackrock.
We wanted to go inside but didn't have a solicitor with us today.
Brian recovering at the finish -Castlebellingham Castle.
A bit of a disaster avoided. Hugh discovered that he had dropped his spare jacket (+ his travel pass) during the run. On the way back to Dundalk, we spotted it lying on the roadside and the bus driver agreed to stop and let Hugh run back to collect it. Top marks to Bus Eireann.
