I had spent a sleepless night thinking about what could go wrong today - terrible weather forecast, some big rivers to cross, a tight schedule and more women than usual to look after.
In the end, all went surprisingly well. We were blessed with a strong following wind that made even Pat look like an Olympic sprinter.

Brian blesses the runners before the start.
How times change. This fenced-off bridge leads to the former Butlins camp at Mosney. Now an asylum seekers centre holding up to 700 people.
Laytown beach - just great for running.
Always test your brakes after doing this.
Firing range at Gormanstown Camp - a place with quite a history. Luckily, there was no shooting today.Nothing beats a day off work.
Trainee lemmings at the harbour wall in Balbriggan.
Many thanks to Liz, Verity and especially Louisebrowne.co.uk for these brilliant buffs (things runners wear around their necks). Tea, cake and running shoes - the three essential components of my life.
